Real Turner Prize Show - Paintings by the StuckistsThe Stuckists art group was founded in January 1999 by Charles Thomson and Billy Childish to oppose the stranglehold of Brit Art and promote painting as the most vital means of addressing contemporary issues. Since then they have achieved an astonishing degree of public support and media coverage, including; national TV News, Newsnight and even 'Have I got News for You'. The Real Turner Prize Show was promoted by superHUMANism at the Pure Gallery (now Joe Crompton@Artisforall Gallery) in Shoreditch 24/Oct. - 30/Nov. 2000, as a direct challenge to the - "other Turner Prize Show" (Independent on Sunday) Over 200 paintings were shown by the 13 Stuckists artists as well as 24 guest artists from The Ruralist, Students for Stuckism, and others. This virtual gallery is an evolving representation of that show. |
